The Archaeological Associates of Greenwich (the AAG) has announced a new series of lectures for the Fall of 2007. The programs will be held in the Lecture Hall at the Bruce Museum, 1 Museum Drive, Greenwich, Connecticut. Programs are free to AAG and Bruce Museum members and $10 at the door for the public.
Thursday, September 20, 8 p.m.
Topic: Aphrodisias: A Classical
Archaeologist Reports on this Stunning Greco-Roman Site in Turkey
Speaker:Michelle Berenfeld of World Monuments Fund. Dr. Berenfeld
worked at the site for seven years so can present its history, as well as news
of ongoing research and conservation.
Thursday, October 18, 8 p.m.
Topic: The Impact of Climate Change as Seen Through Archaeological Sites.
Speaker: Rafe Pomerance, President, Climate Policy Center of Washington, D.C. Pomerance, a Greenwich native, will talk about the influence of past climate change on archaeological
sites and what lessons can be drawn from the experiences of past societies.
Thursday, November 15, 8 p.m.
Topic:Searching for the First Farmers in the Adriatic.
Speaker: Professor Andrew Moore, Dean of Graduate Studies, Rochester Institute of Technology.
For the last five years, Professor Moore and his team have been investigating the spread of farming around the Mediterranean and into Europe. His research is
focused on Dalmatia (Croatia) where several extensive Neolithic sites are located. His previous talk to the AAG was on his ground-breaking discovery of
early farming in Syria at Abu Hureyra.
