Title: Counting integral solutions to polynomial equations

Abstract: How many integral solutions can there be to a polynomial equation f(x,y) = 0, if x and y are restricted to lie in a box of side length L? This type of question has many applications and is far from understood. I'll discuss some of the different approaches to this question. No background necessary!
