Coordinators of the various internal programs include:
- Bottle, Can & Plastics Coordinator
(BCP) - BCPs are responsible for the maintenance of the
bottle, can and plastic collections and sorting on campus during
the weekend recycling runs. This includes calling volunteers for
attendance sake, storing the material in the proper place and
showing new volunteers what a weekend recycling run is all about.
Furthermore, a BCP needs to be energetic and should have no
troubles getting up early on weekends. (2 persons)
- Paper Recycling Coordinator (PRC) - PRCs
are responsible for the mailroom paper recycling program and the
expansion into the residence halls. A PRC should promote
newspaper, colored paper and white paper recycling on campus via
various methods of communication. For example, the Justice, WBRS,
bulletin board, dorm raps, general Email messages, etc. (2 or more
persons)
- Quad Captain (QC) - QCs are responsible
for collecting materials in their quad and placing them in a
central location the night prior to a recycling run or before 9
a.m. the morning of a recycling run. (8 persons)
- Secondary Driver - Secondary drivers are
responsible for assisting primary drivers and volunteers with
pick-ups during weekend recycling runs. They require a Brandeis
University Defensive Driving certificate (courses are held each
semester) to drive the golf cart or a BUDD certificate and a
driver’s license to drive the Facilities Management truck. (6
persons)
- Publicity Coordinator (PC) - A PC is
responsible for advertising BURP!, campus recycling sites and
special environmental events. The PC should work closely with the
other coordinators and quad captains to maximize publicity and
transfer of information. "Only through publicity will your idea
reach the public." (1 person)
- Special Projects Coordinator (SPC) - A SPC
is responsible for organizing BURP!’s special events such as Cans
Across Brandeis (CAB) or the Brandeis University Recycling
Olympics (BURO!) (1 person)
The key to perfect harmony within the Core Committee is communication
and cooperation. Speak up and tell others of your plans. It doesn't
hurt to receive feedback, even when it's negative! And if you do have
a problem with someone, sit down with that and a third person, and
discuss the situation. Lay your cards on the table and never run-away
from a problem because you will never be able to run fast
enough.
