What can you recycle at Brandeis?
Comingled Glass, Cans and Plastics
There are approximately 64 BLUE recycling bins spread around campus. For a list of sites, click here. The bins accept:
GLASS containers
aluminum CANS
PLASTICS
STYROFOAM
All our trash goes to a 'waste-to-energy' plant called SEAMass. To put it simple, our waste is burnt and the heat is converted into electricity which we use. The facility actually recycles tin cans by pulling them out of the trash before they go into the furnace with a huge magnet. Thus, tin cans can be thrown in the trash. If you are unsure whether a can is aluminum or tin, throw it in the BLUE recycling bin.
Newspaper
There are dark navy BLUE bins standing outside in 13 locations around campus. They have the words BFI written on them and ONLY are intended for newspaper recycling. A list of sites will be posted, hopefully, by the 16th of September on the "Where can I recycle?" page.
Colored and White Paper
Take all your colored and white paper to the Environmental Office located in Usdan 50 across from the mailroom for recycling. There are several other sites on campus which will be posted, hopefully, by the 16th of September on the "Where can I recycle?" page.
