Ruth Charney

Professor of Mathematics

Brandeis University

My area of research is geometric group theory, the study of groups through their actions on topological metric spaces.  Some of my favorite topics are groups of non-positive curvature (CAT(0) groups, hyperbolic and relatively hyperbolic groups), braid groups, Artin groups, and Coxeter groups.
