Chris Smaje is a lecturer in sociology at the University of Surrey, England. He has researched and written extensively on racial and ethnic patterns in health and health care and on health care policy, including a book Health, Race and Ethnicity: Making Sense of the Evidence (King's Fund, 1995). He has also written on sociological theories of race, ethnicity and nationalism and on the historical sociology of race and hierarchy, recently publishing a book on the topic, Natural Hierarchies: The Historical Sociology of Race and Caste (Blackwell's, 2000). | |
