Tuesday Night Revival

Balkan Dancing

We have a monthly (occasionally twice in a month) dance on a Friday or Saturday, often (but not as often as in the past) the first or second weekend of the month, at the Church of Our Saviour, 21 Marathon Street, in Arlington, Massachusetts. Our repertoire and our name come from the MIT Tuesday night Balkan dances. Our dances are aimed at experienced dancers; if you're a beginner, you might prefer the dances of the MIT Folk Dance Club every Sunday night, the Folk Arts Center of New England every Friday night, or Zdravets once a month on Saturday.

All of our dances are from 8 to 11 p.m. There is often, but not always, a teaching session from 7 to 8 p.m.

Directions

All dances are at the Church of Our Saviour, 21 Marathon St. in Arlington. Marathon Street runs off Massachusetts Ave. in East Arlington about eight blocks from Alewife Brook Parkway (Rte. 16), and three blocks from the Capitol Theatre.

If you're coming up Mass. Ave. from Cambridge, turn right at the eighth street after Alewife Brook Parkway. (At the corner of Mass. Ave. and Marathon St. is an Audiosonics store.)

If you're coming from Route 2 inbound, you should get off Route 2 at the Lake St. exit (the last exit before Alewife Brook Parkway) and take Lake St. towards Arlington until it ends at Mass. Ave. Turn right on Mass. Ave., then take the second left, which is Marathon.

Here is a map that shows the part of Arlington near the Church of Our Saviour. You might also want to look at the church's web site, which has another map and public transportation information.

There is usually plenty of parking on Marathon St., but please don't park on Warwick St., the small street next to the church perpendicular to Marathon St.

Admission is $4 for the dance.

Please bring clean soft-soled shoes to dance in, to protect the floor.

Refreshments are always welcome!

Mailing Lists

We have a mailing list that usually consists of one reminder for each upcoming dances. If you would like to be on the mailing list, send a message to sympa@lists.brandeis.edu with the body subscribe tuesday. (If you click on the link to this email address, "subscribe tuesday" should automatically appear in the body, but if it doesn't you can type it in.) Each message that you receive will tell you how to unsubscribe.

We also have a higher (but not very high) traffic list for discussions relating to our dance regarding things such as scheduling, special events, finances, and general philosophy. To subscribe to this list, send a message to sympa@lists.brandeis.edu with the body subscribe tnrtalk.

You can unsubscribe from these lists by sending a message to tuesday-unsubscribe@lists.brandeis.edu (for the announcement list) or to tnrtalk-unsubscribe@lists.brandeis.edu (for the discussion list).

If you have any problems with the mailing lists, or for any other questions, email Ira Gessel at gessel@brandeis.edu or call 781-648-6887.
