You will do one of these short (1/2-1 page) papers on nearly every text that we study.
After doing the reading, neatly type one or two double-spaced paragraphs (in your best English!) to turn in. Tell me:
I will read all the papers and use them in my judgment of your participation and attention to the course, as well as in my ongoing evaluation of how you, I, the course, and the class are progressing. I will not give you grades on each paper, nor will I correct or comment on them in detail, but I do expect you to do your best work each time and your grade will be affected by the overall quality of these papers. No late reaction papers will be accepted. Please keep all these papers together in a folder that you will hand in each time a written assignment is due. It will constitute a record of your progress in reading, writing, and thinking.
- one thing you learned from the reading;
- one idea or question the reading raised for you; and
- anything else you would like to say about the text.
Please email us if you have questions or comments about this site.
