The goal of this writing-intensive course is to give students an idea of what it's like to solve mathematical problems and write rigorous mathematical proofs. The textbook is: Mathematical Thinking: Problem-Solving and Proofs (2nd Edition) by John P. D'Angelo and Douglas B. West. Hopefully it will be soon available on reserve at the Science Library. Meanwhile here is Chapter 1 in PDF format.
