Title: Ergodic theory of billiards and group actions on parameter spaces
Abstract: We describe a dictionary, developed by Masur, Veech, and others, between ergodic theory of flows on surfaces and dynamics of group actions on parameter spaces. This will be an introductory, expository talk, and if time permits, we will discuss some joint work with G. Forni further developing this relationship.
