The team of Jason, Ted, Chris, and Jen finished third in this tournamnent
for novices, playing as Brandeis Disgruntled Goat. Naomi, Steve,
and Matt played as Brandeis Klu Klux Klam I don't remember
who was on Brandeis Uncle Ant.
11-4-00: TRASH Regionals Northeast- Boston U.
The largest contingent Brandeis has ever sent to a tournament.
Dan, Rob, and Ben played as Brandeis Louder; Steve G., Jen, Ezra, and Jackie
as Brandeis Angrier; and Chris, Scott, Dave, and Jason as Brandeis Access
to a Time Machine. All represented the Judges well.
11-11-00: NAQT Intercollegiate Fall Tournament- Yale U.
Brandeis's best showing at any tournament to date. Jen, Jason,
Chris, Ted, and Dan finished second in the Division II field, augering
well for future successes.
12-2-00: "T"-Party- Harvard
Steve G., Anna, Rob, and Ted made the trek to Cambridge. They
finished 12th out of 14, but with many close games, and a unanimously praised
packet. Highlights included two questions on Brandeis professors
(Abe Maslow and Ray Jackendoff), and Rob's power with "Jesse Spano."
2-3-01: Terrier Tussle- Boston U.
Ted, Jason, Jen, and Chris attended this tournament which was a good
warm-up for sectionals. They made the playoffs, and finished fourth
overall. In probably the second most exciting moment in BUQB history
(see immediately below), Chris clinches a five-point victory over Williams
at the buzzer with "Thaksin Chinawatra."
2-10-01: NAQT Sectionals Northeast- Boston U.
The Big One. Two Brandeis teams attended: Jason, Chris, Ted, Jen,
and Dan; and Mehrun, Rob, and Anna. The Judges had to make the semifinals
to be guaranteed a place in St. Louis. In the quarterfinals versus
Dartmouth, things looked bad for the A team when they dropped the first
game of a best-of-three series 130-255. However, in an amazing reversal,
Brandeis A came back to take the next two games 350-135 & 275-140,
and finished third in the Division II. Also, probably the best-ever
individual showing of Brandeis talent, with three players in the top ten:
Ted (#1), Mehrun (#7), and Chris (#9).
4-7-01: NAQT Nationals- Washington U. in St. Louis
Brandeis was able to make this trip, thanks in part to Continental Airlines
and Ted's grandmother's frequent flyer miles. Scott took Jason's place
on the team, and the Judges finished 14th overall, playing against the
top QB'ers in the country (including a very scary Pittsburgh team).
Highlights included Ted Drewe's frozen custard, an excursion to East St.
Louis, and the view into Busch Stadium from the hotel window. In
the oddities department, Brandeis witnessed one of the members of the Yeshiva
squad eating steak in Landry's restaurant on what was the first night of
Passover, and UC-Berkeley became an official enemy of the team.
4-21-01: D2K1- Dartmouth
Jason, Mike, Dave, and Rob attended as Brandeis Die, Rutgers, Die. Rob finished 6th individually.
