The recitation of blessings before eating food is a practical and fascinating area of Jewish ritual law. We will survey some of the classical texts on the subject, with an emphasis on practical halacha.
What were the core philosophical beliefs of Jews throughout history? How were they understood in different periods? What were some of the points of contention between different schools of thought? We will explore some of the central issues which have united and divided Jews throughout history, and survey the outlook for the future.
Did you ever wish you had the skills to learn Talmud by yourself? Come work on your Talmud reading and comprehension of the Talmud and commentaries with other women. We will be studying tractate Yoma, which deals with Yom Kippur. Exclusively for women.

A conceptual analysis of the Talmud and commentaries. We will be studying the 4th chapter of Tractate Gittin, which deals with the divorce process and a number of injunctions that attempt to improve society ("Tikun Ha'olam"). Students prepare during the week for this summary class on Wednesday night. Open to men and women.
