As the computer manager for the
Rosenstiel Center at Brandeis
University, I administer most of the computers that reside in the
Center's research laboratories, offices and facilities areas. These
machines range from relatively simple desktop PCs and Macs to nodes in a
high performance computing cluster and run a wide range of operating
systems, including
Linux,
Mac OS X,
Windows,
Irix
and even Tru64 UNIX and
OpenVMS.
My duties include planning and implementing computing strategies for
the Center and its research labs, purchasing and installing hardware,
assisting Brandeis LTS in the
management of the Center's extensive network, maintaining widely-used
software packages, administering user accounts and training users.
