Religious Pluralism and Spirituality

  1. Purpose
    1. Religious Pluralism and Spirituality (referred to as "RPS") is dedicated to cultivating a welcoming environment and sense of connection at Brandeis for those of any or no religious tradition. Its mission is to help community members learn about each other by sharing, listening, and asking questions in a comfortable setting.
    2. RPS tries to foster opportunities for moments of spiritual exploration and expression. Through its programs, the group encourages all to recognize, respect, and celebrate religious diversity in the Brandeis community.
  2. Membership
    1. Statement of non-exclusivity: Membership in RPS is open to all members of the Brandeis community. RPS does not discriminate on the basis of sex, gender, race, religion, sexual preference, class, age, nationality, or physical ability.
    2. To be considered an active member, an individual must attend at least one meeting per month and at least two events per semester.
    3. Any member may vote in club elections and run for executive board positions.
  3. Officers
    1. The club officers consist of the President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Publicity Director.
    2. The duties of the President include:
      1. Scheduling, organizing, and conducting meetings
      2. Being the official liaison to other groups and the Student Union
      3. Ensuring that all other officers and club members are fulfilling their tasks and communicating with each other
    3. The duties of the Vice President include:
      1. Aiding the President in his or her duties and assuming the Presidentís role when he or she is not available
      2. Taking minutes at meetings
    4. The duties of the Treasurer include:
      1. Keeping track of the clubís finances
      2. Securing funding for the clubís events and projects
    5. The duties of the Publicity Director include:
      1. Advertising all events and meetings of the club
      2. Maintaining the clubís listserv
  4. Elections of Officers
    1. Elections for the next school year will take place at the last meeting of the spring semester.
    2. Additional elections will take place at the first meeting of the fall semester and of the spring semester if the need arises.
    3. Coordinators for various events or series of events may be elected throughout the year as needed.
  5. Meetings
    1. Meetings of the club will be held at least twice per month.
    2. Meetings will be held for the purpose of planning events and programming to foster spiritual exploration and learning among the wider Brandeis community.
  6. Constitution and Amendments
    1. The constitution will be adopted by a simple majority vote of current members.
    2. Amendments will be adopted by a two-thirds vote of current members.
  7. Club status
    1. RPS is a chartered club.
