About

My name is Pavel Sountsov and I was a PhD student at Brandeis University working in Dr. Paul Miller’s lab.

Research Interests

I am interested in Artificial Intelligence, specifically in how intelligent agents can perform probabilistic inference in face of uncertain information. In particular, I am interested in how the brain could implement probabilistic inference and learning using networks of spiking neurons. Specifically I explore how networks of neurons could use the various sources of stochasticity in the brain to represent and manipulate probability distributions using a sampling representation.

I am also interested in efficient, parallel simulation of spiking neuronal networks. I am particularly focused on efficient representation of Neuroscience concepts using domain-specific languages and GPGPU computing using OpenCL.
