Home > Safer Sex > Polyurethane

A great alternative for anyone with latex allergies, polurethane is thin, nonporous, and readily transmits body heat. The American FDA has approved the use of polyurethane condoms, however manufacturers cannot make claims that their condoms prevent pregnancy or the transmission of STDs. Labratory testing has confirmed that polyurethane blocks sperm cells and the HIV virus from passing through. Water and oil based lubricants can be used with polyurethane material.
