Our Constitution

I. Purpose


II. Officers
    A. The official positions of authority in the group are as follows:
      1. President
      2. Musical Director
      3. Treasurer/Secretary
    B. The duties of aforementioned offices are as follows:
      1. President
        a. Group liaison - act as go-between with school officials and outside issues.
        b. Spearhead group - act as leader, maintain order
        c. Direct meetings - keep members organized
        d. Perform managerial duties including, but not limited to, setting up and organizing performances
      2. Musical Director
        a. Make or gather musical arrangements
        b. Teach such arrangements to the rest of the group
        c. Musical quality control - correct problematic musical issues
        d. Keep group unified musically
        e. In charge of upholding the highest standard of musicianship
      3. Treasurer/Secretary
        a. Manage all funds and monetary issues
        b. Take minutes of meetings
        c. Keep records of all formal paperwork including, but not limited to, copies of the constitution and all records of meetings and information
        d. Assist president including, but not limited to, helping with managerial duties
    C. Board meetings of these officers will be called as needed and by consent of all three officers
    D. Elections for officers will be held at the end of the current academic year to take effect in the next year, and will be decided by majority vote
    E. Addition of new positions and adjustments to any and all parts of current positions shall be at the discretion of the executive board with consultation of other members of group and by 2/3 vote

III. Membership
    A. New members
      1. New members will be allowed to join the group, to make a group of up to nine females.
        a. New members will be auditioned
        b. Auditions will be held as needed
        c. After auditioning, the group will decide on which singers to call back to sing with the group and audition further
        d. The members of the group will decide, whether through simple discussion or by vote, who will be accepted as a new member.
      2. Membership is exclusive to females who attend Brandeis University
    B. Persons who are already members shall remain so as long as they wish, they do not need to re-audition each year
    C. If a member misses more than half of the rehearsals in a given month without good reason, or if that person causes problems of any other kind, the group reserves the right to remove the membership privileges of an individual with a unanimous vote, not including the person in question
    D. Non-exclusivity clause
      1. Membership is limited to females and on the basis of musicianship, but this group does not discriminate on the basis of race, ethnicity, class, sexual preference, or religion

IV. Meetings/rehearsals
    A. Rehearsals as decided on at the end of the previous year or start of a new semester.

V. Amending/adopting constitution
    A. All amendments and adjustments to constitution shall be made with a vote by the entire group with a minimum of 2/3 support

VI. This group is seeking to be officially recognized by the University and to receive all the rights and responsibilities of a recognized group or club

Amendments:

I. TCFI shall remain apolitical in all matters concerning university student elections.

II. The position of Group Manager has been created and added to the executive board by at least a 2/3 majority vote.

    A. This new position entails obtaining and scheduling performance opportunities for the group.
III. The position of Group Manager has been removed by at least a 2/3 majority vote and the duties of said position revert to the President

IV. The election for the position of Music Director will take place midyear.

    A. The midyear election will allow for the possible further election of an 'apprentice' who would serve under and learn from the current Music Director.
V. The duties of Webmaster for the TCFI website are the responsibility of the President, or the person the president delegates the task upon.

VI. A majority vote of at least 2/3 has decided that it is the official position of TCFI that one member of the group may hold 2 different positions on the executive board

    A. Any one member who chooses to do such must be aware of all the duties of both positions which she is running for and be willing and able to perform all of those duties, or delegate them fairly.
