Meet the Group!
In no particular order...
Becky Sniderman (President) '10 is constantly surprised that she can sing so high, she used to only sing alto but the girls of TCFI saw something in her and squeezed the soprano out of her. She is majoring in Sociology and Philosophy and minoring in Health: Science, Society, and Policy and Social Justice and Social Policy. Besides singing with the wonderful girls in TCFI she also sings with the University Chorus. She is currently an Undergraduate Department Representative (UDR) for both Sociology and Social Justice and Social Policy (SJSP). One of her favorite pastimes is playing Broadway show tunes on the piano and belting out the lyrics without shame.
Tegan Kehoe '10 is majoring in History and Creative Writing, and minoring in Philosophy. Bernard Shaw once had one of his characters say, 'Hell is full of musical amateurs.' Whatever that means. In Spring of 2008 she was in Hold Thy Peace's production of Comedy of Errors and produced their production of Romeo and Juliet in Fall 2009. She has been in many BORG productions.
Kristine Kenning '10 is studying Neuroscience and enjoys playing Volleyball, Tennis, and piano in her free time. She is super overcommitted and is pretty much constantly volunteering at different health clinics, Habitat for Humanity, and teaching english to non-english speakers.
Hannah Cross (Co-Musical Director) '11 has many interests and there are just too many to list. She enjoys participating in theater productions on campus and was in the production of City of Angels in Spring 2008. She is a proud member of TRISK and encourages anyone who is interested to stop by their office on the third floor of Shapiro. She currently works in the Media Lab during crazy late hours.
Chaya Bender (Co-Musical Director) '11 majors in Anthropology and Sarcasm. She enjoys underwater basket weaving, hopscotch, and growing tulips. She also aspires to be a Gregorian chanter.
Jordan Hinahara (Secretary/Treasurer) '12 is proud to be representing Wisconsin for TCFI. She thinks she will probably be studying HSSP and IGS, but is very interested in languages. She works as a counselor at a Spanish immersion camp in the summer, which pretty much consumes her life (outside of singing, of course!)
Kat Teeter (Representative to A cappella Etc.) '12 is a volleyball player and manages the Brandeis varsity team. She also plays frisbee with the Banshee girls. She really enjoys stage managing, including the production of BARE in Fall 2009, and has also dabbled in light designing, such as for the Tymp show Company. She is exploring her many interests and is at the moment considering studying both Theater and Politics. Her favorite quote is "semper ubi, sub ubi" or "never wear, underwear".
Ariana (Ari) Hajmiragha '13 is TCFI's newest member! She has an absolutely beautiful voice and can hold her part like no other. From Seattle, Ari is fitting in to this quirky group wonderfully and has already had a few "TCFI" moments.
Alumnae
Bonnie Ronish (Former Musical Director) '09 is fat and docile, big and dumb. She looks so stupid she ain't much fun. She was born August 12, 1987 and raised in NM, moved to CA because she was bored, parents live in MD. Bonnie plays volleyball, laughs a lot, loves chocolate, is scared of the dark, can't say "prodigy", has one brother, lots of cousins, 2.5 grandparents, is a bio major, sings the man part, and doesn't look like anyone famous. She will soon be attending Medical School.
Sam Shokin '12 has an amazing vocal quality and added a great new sound to the group. She was featured on our latest CD, "Syllabolical." She plans on pursuing American Studies and Journalism and is a very talented writer both for the Justice and on campus publishings, including Laurel Moon and Where the Children Play. She taught the girls in TCFI much about the proper way to pronounce Russian phrases.
Lizzie Fei '09 studied Biology, East Asian Studies, and HSSP while being the completely awesome person that she is. She enjoys playing on the Rugby team and has many injuries to prove it.
Coretta Garlow '10 is interested in Art and Education and loves working with kids. She knows how to make everyone smile and has filled many rehearsals with laughter, which will be truly missed. She continues to be a strong supporter of TCFI.
| Holly Birns (Former Musical Director) '09's favorite excuse is "I'm from Vermont," which her friends tell her is not a good enough excuse to use for everything, which she then goes on to ignore and
uses it for everything anyway. She stole "That Fraggle-Rocks my socks!" from Bonnie. She has been in every musical imaginable and a few that aren't. Her vandalous friends and she put peanut butter and chips on road signs when they have nothing better to do, and she is hoplessly addicted to manga and
rennaisance festivals. And now, she will end on a high note--AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH! |
Malaika Schwartz '09 likes bubble tea.
| Tova Searleman '06 was one of the original six members of TCFI, and she is
very proud of how far the group has come since its inception. She is
currently working toward earning a Psy.D. at the Massachusetts School of
Professional Psychology and aspires to work with learning-disabled children.
She would like to express her gratitude to TCFI members old and new for
giving her the opportunity to fulfill her long-standing ambition to be part
of a musical performance group, and for making said a cappella group into
such a spectacular experience. |
Katie (Spaz(zie)) Kosstrin '07 is the first President and founder of the group. TCFI was an idea rolling around in her head for quite some time before she actually found anybody else who was really interested. She graduated from Brandeis with an IMES major and minors in PAX, LGLS, and THA (yeah, she doesn't really know where the last one fits in, either). She is now off to Albany Law School where she will learn how to rid the streets of all the evil people we hear about on the news.
Allison Glansberg '07 (Former Secretary/Treasurer) thinks a cappella, and singing in general, rocks. She is majoring in History with a minor in English and is also getting a degree in secondary teaching. Someday she may put those together and become a high school history teacher with a useless English minor. She loves TCFI and all its members and wouldn't trade this group for anything... ok, she can't promise that, but she does totally love TCFI!
Nomi Graber '07 (Former Musical Director) was unable to write a bio because she was too busy directing the universe.
Francesca (Frankie, "The Man") Amdurer '07 responds only to Tenacious F. Hailing from rugged ColoRADo, this swingin' senior overloads on commitment as an erstwhile man, arranger, independent studier, contra dancer, and competitive member of the lightweight women's varsity crew team. She is majoring in uselessness with a minor in pseudoscience (anthropology and linguistics, for those keeping track) but sometimes likes to pretend she isn't leaving in May. If she must, please ship her back to Ireland.
Naomi Hernandez '07, though she was on hiatus for nearly her entire TCFI career, appears on Girls Without Guitars.
