The Hakkoda Pilgrimage

Each August, worshippers take a one day pilgrimage from Akakura Mountain Shrine to Hakkoda mountain, in the center of Aomori Prefecture.

Here, worshippers pray at a steep gorge known as "Akukura", symbolically tied to Akakura Mountain, which is about about an hour's drive to the west.

Previous Ceremony:

Great Summer Festival (July)

Next Ceremony:

Ancestor Memorialization (October)
