Akakura Mountain Shrine Rituals

The Cooking Pot (Kamado) Ceremony
(see Immortal Wishes, pp. 89-93)

The cooking pot (Kamado) rite is performed three times per year by the Akakura Mountain Shrine congregation: at the New Year's festival, the Great Summer Taisai festival in July, and at the Mountain Closing ceremony (in town) in November.  The rite is frequently practiced by kamisama spirit mediums in the region, and has been incorporated into the Akakura Mountain Shrine ritual system, preceded each time by a mainstream Shinto ceremony.
