Expand the Clubs in Service Program

I will strengthen this program to make it as easy as possible for Brandeis students to volunteer in Waltham.

The Clubs in Service program is a collaboration between the Student Union and Waltham Group that encourages clubs on the Brandeis campus to use their unique talents in service projects that benefit the Waltham community. Over 30 different clubs have participated in the program this year, and I would like to see that number go even higher. I will work with club leaders and the Waltham Group to make participation as easy as possible and lead the Union government in a project of its own.

Secure a Space for the Activist Resource Center

I will find a permanent space for ARC to help coordinate campus activist groups and centralize their available resources.

The Activist Resource Center exists to allow activist-oriented clubs to collaborate on projects and use their shared resources effectively. Unfortunately, ARC only exists as a website and list-serv right now, limiting its ability to function. In their efforts to bring change to our own campus and our greater communities, ARC is an essential piece of any union, especially our Student Union. They've been searching for a permanent space for several years now, and I will work with the administration to find one. I'll make sure that ARC is provided with enough resources to become a hub for campus activism and to solve the challenges that activist groups face in organizing events and projects.

Turn off Unused Lights

I will work with Facilities to start turning off lights in buildings that aren't in use, limiting our energy consumption and saving money for Brandeis.

Many of our buildings keep their lights on 24 hours a day, even when they're locked and inaccessible. Just walk by the library late at night, and you'll see every floor lit up. This wastes electricity and and university money at a time when our budget needs to be slashed. Brandeis should be a leader in environmental responsibility, and I will work with the administration to cut energy use wherever possible.
