The broad mission of the Office of Undergraduate Academic Affairs and First Year Services is to guide students from matriculation through graduation. The office is dedicated to supporting students' academic progress through a dynamic advising system, program development and sponsorship, extensive resource information, and the development of class year identification. Each students' academic developement is broadened by encouraging them to make an active part in their educational and intellectual pursuits.

The deans in the Office of Undergraduate Academic Affairs assist individual students in planning their undergraduate careers at Brandeis, and in addressing their problems and concerns through the Committee on Academic Standing. Guidance is available in program planning, selection of a major field of study, and study skills development. In addition, the office administers funds to support undergraduate research efforts; monitors the progress being made by all undergraduates toward completion of degree requirements; and coordinates academic accommodations to students with a disability, the Advance Placement Program, Cross Registration, premedical advising, and Brandeis' post baccalaureate pre-medical program.

The office provides advising services for Brandeis undergraduate and graduate students who seek to enrich their education through a period of study abroad. It also maintains a resource library of materials on available foreign programs. The office provides information and assistance in obtaining international study grants.
