IATH: The Hungarian Episodes

Day 2: Budapest on 6000 Forints a Day

In the morning, while Daniel Slaved Away at the ACH/ALLC paper, Maggie and John skipped out and went looking for Obuda, the Roman part of town.  Apparently, the Romans took it with them when they left--we never did find it, but did some climbing up pretty streets like this.
We also saw some interesting little cars like this one (which appears to have motorcycle envy).
We saw Pest from the Buda side,
and Buda from the Pest side.
Then it was John's turn to Slave Away on the paper, while Maggie and Daniel went to see...
Margaret Island (nice of them to name it after her, we thought).  Ruins of churches, famous Budapest Spas (offering a number of therapies, including irrigation--don't ask),
and statues of famous Hungarians.
Right down the street from our hotel is this funky building--a theater.

At the end of the day, we had a great meal at Gundel, a wonderful Hungarian restaurant with a string quartet (playing American movie tunes, for the most part).

Stay Tuned for Day 3: Ez a Vonat Megy Debrecen-ba?  (Is this the right train for Debrecen?)
